Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page resign from Alphabet

Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are leaving their positions at the parent company Alphabet, leaving Google CEO Sundar Pichai to manage both Alphabet and Google.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, was created following a corporate restructuring in October 2015 to encompass Google and all of the group’s non-central activities, from Waymo’s autonomous cars to Sidewalk Labs’ subsidiary dedicated to smart cities, to Calico, a biotechnology specialist.

With regard to Sundar Pichai, they said:

“Sundar, brings humility and a deep passion for technology to our users, partners and employees every day. He has worked closely with us for 15 years, through the creation of Alphabet, as CEO of Google, and as a member of the Alphabet Board of Directors. He shares our confidence in the value of the Alphabet structure and its ability to meet great challenges through technology. Since Alphabet was founded, we have no longer trusted him. There is no one better to lead Google and Alphabet into the future. »
