Roborock S6 Robot Vacuum, Robotic Vacuum Cleaner and Mop with Adaptive Routing, Selective Room Cleaning, Super Strong Suction, and Extra Long Battery Life, APP & Alexa Voice Control.

The Roborock S6 is an improved version of the S5 robot vacuum cleaner, which has all these features of the latter, but is quieter, a little more powerful and also a little more autonomous.

Like the S50, it incorporates a water tank coupled to a mini mop. It also has a function to create virtual rooms in your home.

Roborock S6 features

And this is the Roborock S6, the successor to the S5. It is still surmounted by a laser rangefinder, like the Neato models, the Roborock S6 is about 10 centimeters high with fairly high wheels. It has a few additional sensors, located all around the device.

On top, there is still this white plastic shell, with three physical touches whose design has been redesigned.

The left one is used to launch a targeted cleaning, the middle one triggers or pauses the vacuum, and the right one allows to send it back to its base.

Personally, I simply use the mobile application, which gives access to more very useful functions. You can, for example, select a specific room as with the Roomba i7+.

Finally, the base is bigger to be able to roll up the power cable, so it won’t drag on the ground anymore. This is the only reason for its larger size.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ROBOROCK S5 AND ROBOROCK S6?

The Roborock S6 is not a revolutionary robot vacuum cleaner, as it is the successor to the Roborock S5, which was already an excellent robot vacuum cleaner.

Roborock has above all optimized its product, it is more powerful and faster.

Roborock has above all optimized its product, it is more powerful and faster.

The S6 is faster, it takes between 15 and 20 minutes to clean 35 square meters, compared to 20 to 25 minutes for the S5.

There are still 4 cleaning modes, in addition to special modes (carpet and mop cleaning). For example, you can select the Turbo mode, which is just as fast, but the robot vacuum cleaner will make more noise.

In short, the S6 is obviously faster than the S5: it moves faster and avoids obstacles faster too. It’s fascinating to watch it spin around the legs of a table without touching them.

The bin is no bigger, about 0.45 liters, so you will have to empty it each time you pass through (depending on the surface area of your apartment).

Note that there are two anti-allergenic filters sold with the robot vacuum cleaner, and if you need to buy a new one — it’s the same filter as the S5 that can be found for a few euros on the Internet.

You can always follow the status of the individual device components directly from the application.

Don’t worry, the only three maintenances you will have to perform during the first 6 months of operation are: clean the sensors all around the device, empty the tray every time you use it and remove some of the bristles that get stuck in the brushes (especially if you have pets).

The S6 is particularly effective on carpets, much better than the S5.

It automatically detects that it’s on a carpet and will modify its suction to suit the surface. While thick carpets were one of the S5’s black spots, the S6 does a better job on them.

The two spring-mounted wheels are also appreciated, they can even go over a dog’s bone. Impressive!

One of the most practical features of the Roomba i7+ is the selective cleaning of the rooms.

One of the most convenient features found on the Roomba i7+ is selective room cleaning.

In addition to mapping your home, like the S5, it recognizes each room in a house automatically and designs an interactive map, accessible in the Mi Home application.

The parts can then be named, allowing the S6 to be sent to clean specific parts or to program-specific cleanings.

The cleaning areas can be refined using convenient virtual areas.

Theoretically, I don’t see why the S5 couldn’t have this option… it is surely a Roborock choice not to offer the selective cleaning function per part on the older generation of machines.

When it comes to the way it cleans, the S60 always adopts a logistical and predictable pattern, much like a lawn care professional cuts a field before a sporting event.

But unlike the S50, it won’t go around the entire apartment before starting the cleaning.

He determines the contours of an area of about 4 to 8 square meters, then meticulously goes through the center using a precise scheme.

He repeats this operation on several areas until he has finished cleaning the entire floor.

It is also much quieter than the S5, which is nice if you start your robot vacuum cleaner when you are in the same room.

You can, for example, run your vacuum cleaner in silent mode while you sleep… which is quite nice. We measured about 64 dB in normal mode, the S6 was measured at 52 dB. You can hear (or not) the difference.

Various elements have been revised, including the main brush and the side brush (which brings the dust back to the robot, it now has 5 brushes instead of 3).

Note that the mop has also been revised for the cleaning function (still present).

This is an accessory function of the robot vacuum cleaner that helps a lot if you run out of time. The tank provides enough water for an area of about 12 square meters.

Roborock also assures us that autonomy is greater than on the S5, but it was already excellent on the previous generation.

I couldn’t get rid of this battery, Roborock promises 3 hours of suction on a single charge… which is the equivalent of cleaning a very large room! What’s more, if he hasn’t finished his task, he will recharge by himself and resume his work when he has enough autonomy.

Roborock S6 Price

The Roborock S6 is officially sold at 599 euros.

If you’re willing to spend money on this type of appliance, it’s one of the best vacuum cleaners you can buy. Of course, the Roomba i7+ is more complete, but it’s twice as expensive.

So the Roborock S6 is excellent, but note that the S5 (S50/S55) is still a great value.

For around 350 euros (compared to 599 euros for the Roborock S6), I encourage you to buy the S50/S55 instead, while waiting for the price of the S6 to drop.
